Applying the decal: The
graphic consists of three layers. The top layer is the
Application Tape, which supports the graphic during
installation. Next is the Vinyl Graphic itself, which
has a pressure sensitive adhesive on the back, and the
back layer is the backing paper, which protects the
adhesive until you apply the graphic.
The decals on the
sheet look like the head of an arrow. With the point of
the arrow pointing to the right, the top decal is for
the left side of the emblem and the bottom decal is for
the right side. Cut the two decals apart with a scissor.
Remove the backing
paper from the decal. Be sure not to let the sticky side
of the vinyl touch anything, or itself. If you do, the
vinyl will be unable to be used. Do not touch the
backside of the decal with your fingers. It will hurt
the adhesion of the lettering. Do not remove the
application tape from the decal yet.
Holding the decal
taut, but not stretched, by the ends of the application
tape, hold it in place above where you want it to go,
and get it aligned the way you want it. Be sure not to
allow the vinyl to touch the surface of the emblem, or
it will stick and you won't be able to remove or
reposition it.
Once you are
satisfied with the alignment, you can press the vinyl
down onto the emblem starting from the center and
working out towards the edges. Keep in mind that once
you press it down, you will not be able to move or
remove it without destroying it.
Press it down well,
paying special attention to the edges. Use your
fingernail to press the edges into the groove around the
edge of the emblem. Be sure to press the edges down
well.
Remove the
application tape by peeling it back at a severe angle
(180 degrees is best). If the edges of the decal are not
adhered well, it may be difficult to peel back the
application tape without pulling up the decal also.
Press it down again
after the tape has been removed.
Tiny bubbles are not
a problem, they will disappear in time, but larger
bubbles must be pierced with a pin or needle to allow
air to escape. After piercing them, use your fingers to
work the trapped air towards the hole and press down the
bubble.
Press the decal down one more time.
